Eastgate Wharf Submitted For Planning

Lomax Design are proud to announce the planning submission of the Eastgate Wharf development. Our proposals are for the intensification of an under-used and blighted site by adding a high-quality mixed-use development within Lewes’ conservation area. The design is a blend of modern approaches with traditional and sympathetic detail, sitting within the conservation area of Lewes, the design addresses the need for quality housing and retaining the special character of the area, all the while incorporating much-needed upgrades to local flood defense wall.

 This has been a highly collaborative process with public & stakeholder consultation, running for just under a year, and moulding the proposals to create a scheme with a true sense of identity in the heart of Lewes. Designs & proposals have changed and adapted to best suit recommendations and public requests. Such as including a riverside walk which would link to the Phoenix development, thus improving cycling and pedestrian links to the north of the site toward Cliffe High Street. We have designed a public square that can accommodate the farmer’s market; a suggestion initially made by Friends of Lewes which then turned into a discussion with Lewes Farmers Market representatives. Which, if the scheme is approved, we will further develop with all relevant parties to turn this need into a reality.
