Appeal won on self-build housing at Laughton, near Lewes

We’re pleased to share that outline planning permission has now been granted for our clients at Shortgate Lane, Laughton.

Following a successful planning appeal led by Dale Mayhew of Dowsett Mayhew Planning, our proposal to deliver seven self-build homes on land now known as Old Brick Field has been approved.

The appeal decision, issued by the Planning Inspectorate on the 25^th of July, confirms that the scheme’s core principles of sustainable development are well-suited to its edge-of-village setting in Laughton. The Inspector acknowledged the site’s strong access to local services, its sensitive response to landscape and ecology, and its contribution to housing choice through self-build delivery.

While the project now moves into the reserved matters stage, this represents a significant and positive step forward for a scheme designed to reflect local character and meet growing demand for bespoke, community-scale housing.
